The committee for the 2009 raffle quilt was formed three months late, but we sure made up for lost time!  The committee volunteers, Katrina Rhodes, Jeannie Stanley, Ruth Swasey, Laura Archambault, Caroline King, and Karen Schutt met to find a design for the quilt.  Everyone brought one or two ideas for patterns with them.  One had brought her Kaffe Fassett book and we happened to see the quilt on the back cover. 

 It didn’t take long for us to decide “Pennants” would be the pattern we would choose.  Of course, we all forgot the committees for the raffle quilts were supposed to pick two or three choices for the Cocheco Guild members to choose from!!!  So we went back to the drawing board to pick a second design for the members to consider.

 When we brought the choices to the membership, we did however, let them know we REALLY wanted “Pennants” to be the one we most wanted to do! They humored us and did choose that pattern.  This was quite a non-traditional style quilt for the Guild to choose.  We have had other non-traditional quilts made for the raffle, but never one that was paper pieced.

 The next month we brought the block packets and the members snapped them up.  Two months later we had all the blocks back and proceeded to put the top together.  It was machine quilted by our committee member, Ruth Swasey.

 Although we had a late start, we had the 2009 quilt done before we even raffled off the 2008 quilt!  We are proud of the work of our members on this colorful, vibrant, and exciting quilt! We hope you like it, too!
