"Playing with Paintstiks"

Remember when you were in
kindergarten, and you put a leaf or penny under a piece of
paper, then rubbed the crayon on top of the paper? An image of
the leaf or penny magically appeared on the sheet. That's
exactly the idea with Shiva Oil Paintstik rubbings. Students
will create their own unique embellished fabrics using
Paintstiks with batik stamps. The completed fabric will be
completely washable and colorfast.

NOTE: The instructor will
bring a wide variety of copper batik stamps for “Play” with the
Paintstiks. She also provides an ample supply of paintstiks for
class use. Copper Stamps and Paintstiks will also be available
for purchase at the workshop.

quilts, impressive borders, eye-catching wearables, background
for appliqué, and much, much more!

Workshop Quilt: Striptrees

We will make a landscape with trees or
blocks with shapes resembling letters or trees by cutting the
fabric and inserting strips. In the first case we start with a
light fabric (sky) and work from the top down. If we do blocks
we choose one or several fabrics as a background and again
insert strips. You can write runes (old Nordic script) and piece
your name or a message. You'll discover other possibilities
while working intuitively in developing your own quilt.
